Home Alone

November 28, 2010 § 4 Comments

Yes, one of the all time best Christmas movies.  But I am referring to myself.

It just dawned on me that I am alone for the first time in 3 months.

The Spaniard left for Madrid today [someone has to work around here :)] and the family is in Tallahassee [GO Noles!]

I ate random snacks and leftovers for dinner.  Dessert was ice cream straight from the carton.

I have spent the evening with George Clooney and Dermot Mulroney.

Excuse me… George is back.

My [his] First Thanksgiving

November 27, 2010 § 4 Comments

Who thinks I should have made the Spaniard where this bib? 🙂

I seriously thought about it.

This Thanksgiving was extra special for many reasons! I have so much to be thankful for.

He is at the top of the list.

Light of my life

Ok. I”ll stop.

Thanksgiving started 2 days prior.  Prepping food at home for the big feast!

Serious Business

Always looking for inspiration.

Bedtime Stories... err... bedtime recipes?

In my family, Thanksgiving is always spent out of town with my Dad’s side of the family.

I started my Thanksgiving day with yoga.

Yoga Den

I found this studio last year.  The studio is on the second floor with huge windows surrounded by trees.

Treehouse Yoga 🙂

Power Yoga – Amazing Music – Reggae to Rap – Pure Love.

Om mmm...

A lovely reminder upon leaving.

[Insert here: Home – Shower – Prep – Roast – Stir – Bake – Set – Eat – and eat – and eat…]

There is always a cornucopia of delicious food and too many wine bottles to count.

Game. Set. Match.

My Absolute Favorite!

To say we have a good time in my family is an understatement.

We get loud and rowdy.  We laugh until we cry. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Feast! (courtesy of Aunt Karen)

12 Desserts! Complete with Christmas plates 🙂

Full and Happy

He survived!

I wish I captured more photos of the day.  I was working away in the kitchen because 1) I can’t sit still 2) I wanted to eat before 9 PM and 3) I love it!

What does this look like?

Answer: Men on Black Friday

Yes, yes he did.

The Spaniard insisted on going out shopping today.  If he tries, don’t let him fool you, he loved every minute of it!

I sit here content and happy.  Full of delicious food. Is it just me or are the leftovers always better than the first go round?

My Brother's Masterpiece.

I am surrounded by my Father, Brother and Spaniard – my 3 favorite men.

Football is on. The Spaniard is learning. Touchdown – Timeout – Offense – Defense.

I can’t help but count my lucky stars, say my Thanksgiving prayers, and hope this weekend never ends!

Air & Art

November 24, 2010 § Leave a comment

Sunday was our last day in D.C.

Up first: The Air and Space Museum.

Absolutely fascinating.

Serious business

If I walked around this place by myself. I would have been in and out in 30 minutes. Bored looking at plane after plane.  I mean, if you’ve seen one plane you’ve seem them all, right?

Never seen this

We took the 90 minute guided tour.  Recommendation: Take the tour! I learned so much and was enthralled.

Next: The National Gallery of Art.

or "the place the Spaniard could spend a week"

Again we had a guided tour. The Spaniard.

All I know about art is whether I like it or not.

I fall more and more in love with him with every explanation of the how Rembrandt only used one point of light and how the Renaissance period transformed art from two to three dimensional bringing back the art from the Roman and Greek period.

He. Is. Impressive.

Don’t be jealous.

Airport –> Home –> Happy.
