Slump Bump

June 8, 2011 § 8 Comments

After a weekend of fun. After 3 days of adventures and being surrounded by friends it is no surprise that I woke up Monday (and Tuesday) in a bit of a slump.

I am so thankful for my friends in Spain. It’s just too bad half of them live outside of Madrid.

I took my slump in stride but made an effort to give myself a little bump.

Lisbon, Portugal - December 2010

Bump 1: Endorphins

I walked in the pouring rain to the gym for some weights. I am trying to incorporate more bone building exercises.

Watching the bump in my biceps and lifting next to the men made me feel strong and tough.

Bump 2: Give a little!

As I walked home I couldn’t help but notice the two American accents standing on the corner, maps in hand.

Besides wanting to hug them and talk about the NBA finals, I offered my directional assistance.

The day stayed grey. Truth be told I was a little homesick and friendsick. But my little bumps definitely helped my slump.

Now, who wants to talk basketball?

    Hi Kristen,

I love reading about all your travel adventures! I would love love love to visit Spain one day!

I too get sad sometimes, most of my friends live in other cities. It’s also hard to make new ones with work, a husband and a baby! Boo!

As far as basketball, this year’s series are pretty awesome. My hubby is going for the Mavs, my family is going for the Heat. I was cheering for the Mavs yesterday because I want it to go to a game 7.

Have you always been a Heat fan?

      Hi Cynthia!

Thanks so much for reading! Spain will welcome you whenever you want to come! 🙂

Yes, making friends can be hard. I know it’s slow… and we all just have those lonely days.

I am not necessarily a Heat fan… you might think coming from FL. I would love to see the Mavs win! Game 7 all the way!! I miss American sports. 🙂

I’m so sorry you are homesick. If it’s any consolation I am so jealous you are in Spain again. Are you interested in switching? You can be in LA and have to attend yet another one of Maya’s cute (but very lengthy) ballet performances and I’ll come to Madrid and help lost tourists. Are you interested? Please say yes!!

It’s a deal Ameena! How does Maya feel about Real Food Daily? I will take her there after ballet for a post recital treat. They have excellent desserts! 🙂
